A New Era Dawns in Overwatch 2: Season 16 is Here!
Get ready, Overwatch 2 players! Season 16 is launching on April 22nd, bringing with it a huge wave of changes and additions. This isn’t just another seasonal update – it’s being billed as the biggest update the game has ever seen, introducing a brand-new game mode, a new hero, exciting new features, and a whole host of cosmetic rewards. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, there's something to get excited about.
Forge Your Victory in Stadium
The centerpiece of Season 16 is undoubtedly Stadium, a radically different way to experience Overwatch 2. Described as the third pillar of the game alongside Quick Play and Competitive, Stadium is a best-of-seven, round-based brawl with a unique twist: permanent hero customization.
During each match, you'll earn Stadium Cash to spend in the Armory, unlocking powers and items to transform your chosen hero. With 17 heroes available at launch, and more on the way, along with numerous item and ability combinations, no two matches will play out the same. Adding to the fun, you can now switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. Stadium also features its own standalone ranking system.
Worried about being overwhelmed? Blizzard has added example builds in the Armory to help new players get their bearings. These builds allow you to quickly unlock a designer-built set of powers and items, easing you into the customization process.
Stadium: Initiation Event
To celebrate the launch, the Stadium: Initiation event will offer additional rewards. Winning matches unlocks limited-time cosmetics, including the Stadium Rookie Soldier: 76 and Stadium All-Star Juno skins. Reaching Elite rank in Stadium grants even more exclusive rewards: the Stadium Elite Genji, Orisa, and Moira skins.
Meet Freja: The New DPS Hero
Prepare to encounter Freja, the latest addition to the Overwatch 2 hero roster. This new DPS hero specializes in precision, positioning, and exploiting enemy weaknesses. She wields a Revdraw Crossbow, offering both rapid-fire accuracy and explosive power.
Freja's abilities include Quick Dash for swift repositioning, Updraft to gain height, and a powerful Bola Shot ultimate, which can create game-changing opportunities. She's designed for players who enjoy a high-skill, high-reward playstyle.
Hero Bans: Strategic Depth Added to Competitive Play
A highly requested feature is finally here: Hero Bans for Competitive Play! Before each match, both teams will vote to ban up to four heroes (two per team, with a limit of two per role). This introduces a new layer of strategic depth, encouraging team cooperation and creating more dynamic team compositions.
This system enables players to counter specific threats, disrupt opposing team strategies, and protect their own key heroes. It's all about outsmarting your opponent before the battle even begins.
Dokiwatch: Mythic Juno and Magical Skins
A captivating new skin line, Dokiwatch, arrives with Season 16, centered around the Mythic Heart of Hope Juno skin! Juno's skin boasts four stages of customization, allowing you to evolve her appearance and story. The skin progresses from a bright protector to a corrupted form, reflecting her journey.
The Dokiwatch Bundle will include skins for D.Va, Kiriko, Widowmaker, Mei and Orisa, allowing you to build your own magical girl squad. A Mythic Merciful Magitech Mercy weapon will also be available.

The Season 16 Premium Battle Pass is packed with rewards, including access to Mythic Heart of Hope Juno, Legendary skins for Ashe, Lifeweaver, Mauga, Genji, and Brigitte, plus Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes.
